A Benediction

Based upon Hebrews 4:12....


The Word
Alive
Active

A Sword
piercing flesh
searing bone
violent
bloody

Before the Word our intentions become apparent
our thoughts are judged
our hearts laid bare
Before the Word we are naked.

So we hide, lazily choosing
deceitful ignorance over painful truth.

Jesus, Living Word, come
corporately
individually
regularly
daily.

Open our eyes to the wonders of Your flesh.
Fill our mouths with Your breath.
May Your Voice reverberate in us.
May it unsettle us
expose us
wound us
that we might find peace, rest, You.
Amen.
