Approaching

O God,
much too often, we approach this time
with trepidation, not
wanting to violate this space with our
presence.

We think ourselves much too dirty,
our hands,
our minds, and
our feet tainted too greatly
with the dirt of the places we've been.

It seems that
somehow
we have allowed ourselves to recall
too distinctly all of our
wrongs
and to forget perpetually all of the
rights
You brings to us.

And yet, while we do fear the
entrance, we can still see the hand
you've always extended, as it
beckons us to please come in, so that
we can feel and share the love of
Christ,
so that we can be led by the
Holy Spirit.

Might that we take Your hand tonight.
